The story
Agios Athanasios is one of the smaller religious landmarks of the Merenda countryside. The vaulted chapel is generally placed in the eighteenth century, with a later entrance space changing its western side. Its modest form offers a different experience from the region’s larger monuments. This is a stop for noticing the everyday sacred landscape, where small churches mark routes through fields and settlements.
