Church

Angelisi, Markopoulo

Agia Triada at Angelisi

Double-aisled vaulted church with post-Byzantine paintings and reused architectural fragments.

The story

At Angelisi, the church of the Holy Trinity is unusual for its paired, vaulted aisles. Reused carved stone and surviving wall paintings connect the building with several periods of local history. The surrounding area takes its name from ancient Angele. Take a moment to notice the two-part form of the church, a distinctive feature within the network of small chapels around Markopoulo.
