Die Geschichte
South of Markopoulo, Panagia Koutala offers a quieter encounter with the area’s religious heritage. Its long, simple form and timber roof distinguish it from nearby vaulted chapels. The church is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin, celebrated on the fifteenth of August. Notice the modest scale of the building: this is a place best approached slowly, with attention to its materials.
