A place to be. A state of mind.
Markopoulo Mesogaias is a municipality in East Attica, about 30 km southeast of central Athens and a few kilometres south of the international airport. It reaches from the vineyards of the Mesogeia plain to the sea: the bay of Porto Rafti and the sanctuary of Artemis at Vravrona.

Markopoulo reaches from the vineyards of the Mesogeia plain to the sheltered bay of Porto Rafti. In between: the sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron, the Erasinos wetland, Byzantine chapels and a Frankish tower, all a short drive from each other.

The harbour on the Pounta peninsula: the quay, the little church of Saint Nicholas and a view across the bay to Raftis island and its Roman statue.
The municipal beach of Markopoulo: an organised sandy beach that has flown the Blue Flag every summer since 2003.

A sandy, unorganised beach on the south shore of the Vravrona bay, shaded by tamarisks, its water rated excellent in every published assessment since 2018.

A white seaside church on the south shore of the bay, built in 1949–1951 on a coast where an older church of Saint Marina once stood.
